Liquid Terminals of Uruguay (TLU)
Terminal of Liquid Fertilizers – Fray Bentos
The first plant of this kind in the country; inaugurated in 2008. It provides an integral service of reception, storage and dispatch of liquid fertilizers to Petrobras. Reception and dispatching is currently performed by land.
The plant is equipped with 2 tanks of 2,200 m3, set of pumps, remote access surveillance camera, and continuous level measurement with radar sensors, truck scale and staffed 24 hours a day.
Terminal of Liquid Fertilizers – Nueva Palmira
Nodus operates in Nueva Palmira the Liquid Terminal of Uruguay (TLU), the first plant in the country capable of providing services to third parties, with a stainless steel 8” diameter pipeline connection to a port. The new infrastructure enables the possibility of lowering the costs of liquid maritime transportation and also guarantees that the liquids are discharged in compliance with strict environmental protection measures, acknowledged and approved by the National Environmental Office (Dirección Nacional de Medio Ambiente – Dinama).
The terminal, located 550 meters from Nueva Palmira’s public pier, is capable of discharging liquids directly from vessels in volumes of up to 500 m3/h, up to five tanks with a total capacity of 11,000 m³, and to dispatch trucks at a state-of-the-art blending station that manages varied compositions of mixtures of fertilizers.
More than 40,000 tons of UAN (Urea Ammonium Nitrate) are handled with the new infrastructure, representing 60% of the total volume of fertilizers used in Uruguay.
TLU is a dynamic project to the extent that Nodus has submitted to the National Environmental Office a proposal for the expansion of the terminal and subsequent creation of new business opportunities. In this sense, the building of new pipeline connections and tanks for the storage of other liquids such as vegetable oil and fuels is foreseen. This shall constitute an important contribution to the logistics infrastructure that regional producers require.
